Thinking about hiring a professional cleaning service but feeling confused about which level of cleaning to book? You're not alone! The terms "Standard Clean" and "Deep Clean" are common in the industry, but what exactly do they mean for your home?
Choosing the wrong service can lead to disappointment or overpaying. Here, we break down the difference between a Standard (or Recurring) Clean and a Deep Clean (or Initial Clean), so you can book the perfect service the first time and keep your home maintained efficiently.
Section 1 - The Standard Clean (Maintenance Cleaning)
A. Goal: Consistency and Quick Turnover
The Standard Clean is designed for maintenance—it's the service our regular, repeat clients use. Its goal is to keep your home consistently clean, healthy, and tidy. It focuses on the areas used most often and prevents grime buildup.
B. What's Included in a Standard Cleaning:
Kitchen: Wipe down all accessible surfaces (countertops, cabinet exteriors), clean the sink, wipe down the exterior of major appliances (fridge, dishwasher).
Bathrooms: Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and tubs/showers. Wipe down mirrors.
All Rooms: Dusting of all accessible surfaces (furniture, shelves), emptying trash bins, vacuuming all floors, and mopping hard floors.
Key Exclusion: It does not include intensive tasks like cleaning inside the oven, washing walls, or cleaning areas obstructed by heavy clutter.
Section 2 - The Deep Cleaning (The Foundation)
A. Goal: Resetting Your Home to "Like-New" Condition
The Deep Clean is a comprehensive, top-to-bottom service. It is highly recommended for first-time clients or for homes that haven't been professionally cleaned in several months (or over a year). It requires significantly more time and elbow grease than a Standard Clean.
B. What's Added in a Deep Cleaning (The Difference):
Intensive Kitchen: Cleaning the interior of the refrigerator (if empty), inside the oven, scrubbing grout lines, and cleaning inside the cabinets (if empty).
Intensive Bathrooms: Detailed cleaning of tile grout, removing built-up soap scum from shower doors, and scrubbing baseboards.
High-Detail Areas: Wiping down windowsills and blinds, individually cleaning baseboards, detailing door frames and door interiors, and removing cobwebs from high corners.
Extra Time: Expect the Deep Clean to take 2-4 times longer than a Standard Cleaning.
Section 3 - When to Choose Which Service
Scenario | Service to Choose | Why |
First-Time Client | Deep Clean (Initial Clean) | Establishes the perfect baseline for future standard cleans. |
Weekly/Bi-Weekly Client | Standard Clean (Recurring) | Maintains the baseline established by the initial deep clean. |
Moving In/Moving Out | Deep Clean | Required for deposit returns and preparing a fresh home. |
Quarterly Reset | Deep Clean | Recommended every 3-4 months to prevent major buildup. |
